Fifth Annual Dancing with the Celebrities

Get ready for our fifth annual benefit – “Dancing with the Celebrities” 2012 on Saturday, April 28th at 7pm!  We are excited to bring you local celebrities to grace the Bing Crosby Theater stage as they dance to raise money for CYT-Spokane! This elegant, semi-formal evening is a wonderful way to have a great time while supporting the theater arts training that CYT provides.

Much like the TV show, “Dancing with the Stars,” local celebrities are paired with professional dance instructors to compete against one another for the Championship Title. The audience votes for their favorite couple with dollar bills ($1=1 vote, $15=15 votes, etc), so the more money each celebrity brings in, the more likely they will be to win! We will also have some beautiful auction/raffle items available that night, also.

When your buy tickets for the event, the dollar amounts spent for tickets can count as votes toward the celebrity you want to win.  You may indicate on the order form when you purchase tickets what celebrity you want your votes to be credited toward.

Participating celebrities for this year’s event include:
Molly Allen – “Dave, Ken & Molly in the Morning” on 92.9 ZZU & Jillian Wylie

Marianne Guenther Bornhoft – Realtor, Windermere – Manito & Adam Peterson

Ellena Conway – Owner, Latah Creek Winery & Greg Wold

Football Team & Annie Stillar

Marcell Scott – Owner/ Trainer – Hitfitness & Lydia Cook

Rick Steltenpohl – Executive Director, Hoopfest & Melina Beschta

Doors open at 6pm for this event at the Bing Crosby Theater, and it is a semi-formal event. Refreshments & wine will be for sale, and there will also be student-performances from some of our recent classes and shows.

This is a fundraiser for CYT-Spokane’s theater arts training program for kids ages 6-18. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization so your donation dollars are tax deductible. You may vote for your favorite person or performance with dollars. Every dollar equals one vote. Giving to sustain a worthwhile program has never been so much fun. Saturday, October 15th, from 5 to 8pm in the CYT-Spokane parking lot, make sure to bring the whole family in cowboy boots & pigtails for a lot of good ol’ fashioned fun. There will be hot dogs and hamburgers, cotton candy and caramel apples, popcorn and games – and let’s not forget the square dance!

Tickets are only $5 a person, and you can purchase them through the CYT Office now – please purchase your tickets soon, so we know how many to prepare for.

We look forward to seeing you all there!

Local Celebrities Come to the CYT Stage

Ever wondered what it would be like to see the chief of police doing the two-step? How about a fire chief doing the tango? Your favorite radio DJ doing a swing number? Or even the very first female winner of NBC’s “The Biggest Loser” strutting her stuff on our own Bing Crosby stage?

Believe it or not, we here at CYT are blessed by all of these people – and more – coming together to help us put on our biggest benefit of the year called “Dancing with the Celebrities.” This event, in its fourth year running, is the epitome of elegance, excitement, competition, and support as the community comes together to raise money for CYT-Spokane.

In your semi-formal attire, you will watch nine different couples do a dance routine choreographed by professional dance instructors. After every few couples, votes will be collected in the form of dollars dropped into a bag designated for your favorite couple. Every dollar equals one vote – so the more dollars collected for each couple – either that night or in combination with pre-votes – the more likely they are to win.

In addition to the main attraction of these celebrities dancing onstage, you will also see a few numbers revived from our recent show, “The Music Man, Jr” as well as one of CYT’s recent specialty dance classes performing again. Wine and refreshments will be available for sale, and you will also have the opportunity to bid on amazing raffle/auction items available that night.

Whether you need a night out with the girls, a date night, or just a fun event through which you can support CYT-Spokane, “Dancing with the Celebrities” is the perfect option. Mark the date of April 30th, 2011, at 7pm on your calendar, and purchase your tickets today with the below link so as not to miss out on this exciting event!

Participating celebrities include:

Molly Allen from Dave, Ken, & Molly in the Morning 92.9 KZZU

A Show Produced in Six Days

Last summer, CYT-Spokane produced for the first time ever a “Show-in-a-Week” – literally, a show cast, rehearsed, and put on in only six days. People of all ages – from age 5 to 60 – gathered on Monday to audition for a part, and then, beginning on Tuesday, our evenings were spent in heavy duty rehearsal – singing, dancing, and acting. The end result was an all day rehearsal on Saturday followed by two shows that same day. Intense? I’d say so. But a whole tub of fun, laughter, and memories? Absolutely.

Now the question is, do we make this an annual, end of the summer event? Although not a full-scale production like CYT puts on the rest of the year, it does serve as a fundraiser for our summer months, and it offers a great performance opportunity to those who can’t commit to ten weeks. Not only that, but it’s a fun activity for the whole family to be involved in! If you participated last year in “Show-in-a-Week,” would you consider doing so again this year? Or would you like to join us for the first time this year?

What show would YOU like to see put on in a week? While the show last year was a general Broadway review with a story theme written by two CYT alumni, this year, we are looking for suggestions for a show that you’d like to see performed in a week. We do look for shows that can involve all ages – from kids to adults –  but we welcome as many suggestions as you might have!

Let us know your thoughts – and hopefully we can see YOU on stage this summer!

Encore, Encore Presentation, “Home for the Holidays”

Encore, Encore is CYT-Spokane’s traditional year-end celebration and fundraiser for CYT Families. It is a look back on some of the class and show numbers from this past year, and an exciting look forward to our upcoming year and all that it will hold for us.

This year, the date and time for Encore, Encore is Tuesday, December 28th at 6pm at the Bing Crosby Theater. The theme is “Home for the Holidays” and we look forward to sharing this elegant, semi-formal event with all of our CYT families!

Tickets are now on sale for the event through the CYT Office, 509-487-6540. For all performers, CYT students, and CYT alumni, tickets are $8.00 apiece. Regular attenders are $18.00 apiece, with a couple rate of $30.00.

We hope that you will all be able to join us in this wonderfully merry time of celebration!

Dance Competition and Harvest Party

Raise $3000.00 for CYT? What better way to do that than by dancing!

CYT-Spokane is so excited to announce that in conjunction with their upcoming Harvest Party, they will be holding a DANCE COMPETITION as well! CYT friends and families are invited to join us on Saturday, October 16th, 2010 from 6 to 10pm at the Naccarato’s barn (10215 N. Doak Rd, Spokane, WA  99217) as we celebrate fall with a good old-fashioned Harvest Party. From fun competitions to hay-bales and from delicious food to plenty of dancing, this is a great way to celebrate the beginning of our 2010-2011 Season with all your CYT friends!

**TICKETS ARE ON SALE NOW! Space is limited for this event, so buy your tickets today. In advance, tickets are $10.00, but at the door, tickets will be $12.00. Buy your tickets over the phone or by filling out the ticket order form (available at CYT or downloadable from our website) and turning it in to the office**

Feeling slightly competitive? Don’t hold back! Grab your dance partner and enter in to the Dance Competition part of the evening! We will have 3 categories for prizes – Hip-Hop, Swing, and Salsa, and you may enter one, two or all three categories to compete for prizes. There will be 3 pre-selected songs that couples (or individuals for the Hip-Hop category) can dance to that evening, and the audience will vote on the winner by putting tickets in their favorite dancer’s box. In order to compete, you need to raise a minimum of $25.00 per person ($50.00/couple), by gathering pledges from friends and family members and turning them in to CYT. Remember we are working toward the $3000.00 goal so don’t stop at $25.00! There will be a prize for the most pledges received. For each $5.00 in donations pledged the student will have the opportunity to enter grand prize drawings which will be drawn at the event.

Don’t want to dance, but still want the opportunity to enter to win prizes? No problem, everyone participating in the CYT Student fundraiser will have an opportunity to enter the grand prize drawing for every $5.00 raised. Remember the drawing will take place at the Harvest Party so make sure to get your ticket and attend for food, prizes and family fun!

All proceeds will go towards buying new microphones for our shows so that we can continue to have great quality sound at our performances. The night promises to be a ton of fun, so don’t miss out! Sign up to attend and/or compete today!

For more information and to purchase tickets to the event or register to compete, please call the office at (509) 487-6540.
